Tilburg, Netherlands – Public Pianos – 2011

From the 12th to the 18th of September 2011, 101 public pianos were distributed across the streets of Tilburg and the surrounding villages as part of Incubate festival. As an annual celebration of independent culture, Incubate  presents a diverse programme of events featuring more than 200 cutting edge artists.

Incubate was the first festival in the world to install more than 100 pianos. Located in public parks, streets and squares and even libraries, the pianos were available for any member of the public to play and enjoy. Local artists spent weeks decorating the pianos, and a number were free for the public to decorate and personalise.
